PRESS RELEASE:
Globe unveils first-of-its-kind mobile phone protection program
In
another unprecedented milestone in the Philippine telecommunications
industry, Globe Telecom unveiled the first-of–its-kind protection
program for mobile phones and gadgets.
In partnership with leading global insurance provider Ace Insurance, Globe launched Globe Gadget Care, the complete mobile protection program exclusive to Globe postpaid subscribers.
All new and re-contracting postpaid subscribers availing of new devices under Globe My Super Plan will get Globe Gadget Care for free on the first month of subscription. For
as low as P89 per month, subscribers can continue to enjoy the benefits
of coverage against accidental damage, theft or robbery, and
outstanding postpaid bill balance.
Meanwhile,
existing postpaid subscribers who have non-brand new devices and even
those whose handsets are not Globe-issued are also eligible to avail of
the mobile protection service against accidental damage for as low as
P199 monthly.
“At
Globe, we understand how important mobile phones are nowadays. It is an
essential tool to connect with people who matter most, so launching
Globe Gadget Care is
very timely and relevant, especially at the height of the upcoming
holiday season where phone robberies are more rampant,” said Martha
Sazon, Head of Globe Postpaid. “With Globe Gadget Care,
subscribers get the complete mobile phone protection, so they don’t
have to worry about losing their handsets due to unforeseen
circumstances or accidents, giving them another superior experience just
by being Globe-connected.”
In
the midst of competition’s aggressive switching campaign, Globe
Postpaid grew over 20% in revenue and subscriber base as of
end-September 2012. Contributing 35% to its mobile revenue stream in the third quarter of 2012, the
company’s postpaid business grew to P5.8 billion from P4.6 billion in
the same quarter in 2011, a 25% increase year-on-year.
Postpaid
customers now total 1.66 million, still the undisputed leader by a
single brand, growing 22% from the previous year’s 1.37 million,
bringing total Globe subscribers to 32.1 million from 29.1 million, up
10% year-on-year.
