DALE

You were one of the first people I met on Twitter. This was way back in 2007, back when we could still brag about being in the top 10 most followed twitter users in the Philippines. I remember staying up late with you whenever there was an Apple keynote, and arguing with you about how Android was the better OS. I remember messaging you everytime a new Battlestar Galactica episode came out so i can spaz with you, and how no matter how hard I tried I could never get you interested in Doctor Who. I remember our love of Archie comics and I suggested you should start calling yourself dalekins and next thing I knew that was your new Twitter handle. Back then I didn't really have anyone I could talk to about these things. You made me feel like being a geek was not something to be ashamed about.

I remember talking to you about tech podcasts. How it was never the same after Veronica Belmont left Buzz Out Loud or how funny the latest The 404 episode was. I remember us talking about how awesome it would be to have our very own podcast. It was gonna be the Philippine version of The Totally Rad Show. To be honest, it was you who made Geeky Nights happen. It was you who brought me, Vic and Abe together with the idea of doing a show. I'm forever grateful to you for helping make one of my dreams come true. Geeky Nights won't ever be the same without you.

I remember when I was going through stuff I could always count on you to cheer me up. I hope somehow I was able to do the same for you. I remember back in the day we would hang out with the boys almost every day and party like it was always a Friday. I also remember sitting with you on sidewalks at The Fort and just talking for hours. Good times.

Remember this? I made this way back when I thought I could actually draw. Looking at it now it barely even resembles you. I remember showing it to you and immediately you made it your profile photo. I remember feeling so proud of myself. And really, that's the kind of person you are. You were a natural born leader. You knew how to encourage and motivate people to reach for the impossible. I owe you a lot because of this.

I know that wherever you are now you're in a better place. Thank you very much for everything.
I'll remember you always.

Love,
Your partner in geeky crimes
Mark
